Surgery
Is Ingrown Toenail Surgery Right for you?
If you've been struggling with persistent ingrown toenails that haven't responded to conservative treatments, surgical intervention might be the ideal choice
Types of Procedures
Partial Nail Avulsion (PNA) - This common procedure involves numbing the affected area and removing the problematic section of the nail. Phenol, a chemical compound, is then applied to prevent regrowth.
Total Nail Avulsion (TNA) - Reserved for severe cases, TNA involves the complete removal of the nail plate. This is recommended for severely damaged, thickened, or chronically infected nails, or when a PNA is not suitable.
Our Approach
What to expect
Our podiatrists prioritise your comfort with the use of local anaesthesia to ensure you feel minimal to no pain during the procedure. We use techniques to make the experience as stress-free as possible.
Recovery and Aesthetics
We take special care to ensure that once the toe heals, the nail is aesthetically pleasing with minimal disruption to its appearance. The healing process is on a case-by-case basis but typically takes between 1-5 weeks.
